In my mind, the days of "software" are over. ![]() But don't count on them for the long term. If you can implement any of the above products and get a return within 1-2 years, it might be worth it. This dynamic has played out in their other product lines beyond what's listed above.Īutodesk has made very clear (despite their slow pace of development as of late) that Fabrication parts are at the core of their fabrication strategy. Not a bad business plan on their part but not really what I'm looking for. If a product makes money, they're interested and tend to leave it alone. When it's obsolete (like PD3D/DD3D) they'll kill it and buy something new. No real plan to bring them together or integrate anything. Viewpoint is a literal Frankenstein of things they've bought and slapped together. Personally, I'd be cautious of anything Trimble for the long term. ![]()
